Adelina Clare Valley Grenache 2017Regular price $240.00 Sale price $221.94
Even as avid fans of this wine, we think it has really hit its straps in recent vintages. When you know the story behind the wine, the sublime quality starts to make sense; it's grown in a tiny, old-vine 2-acre parcel a stone's throw from the iconic Wendouree vineyard and takes its muse from Emmanuel Reynaud's legendary Château Rayas.
- Sourced from the estate's 2-acre (0.8-hectare) Springvale block of vines (aka Block 2), planted in 1942, where the very old, desiccated grey loams and maturity of the vines means yields are naturally low. As for the winemaking specs, Col notes that the wine spends 22 days on skins and is fermented in closed concrete tank. Pressed/settled for several days and racked back to concrete tank for nine months.

96 Points - James Suckling
A wine with terrific elegance and focus. This 2017 vintage grenache has considerable power and purity. A thrilling wine to taste. The style of restrained fruit and clearly expressed tannins continues in this vintage. The succulent red fruits hold long, fresh and unwavering.
