As one of Germany's oldest wineries, the history of this iconic estate dates back to 966, when wines were mainly made for the nearby Monastery. Fast forward to now, Carl von Schubert and his son Maximin are leading the estate in the fifth and sixth generation today, carefully managing three of the most highly regarded Grand Cru vineyards in the region: Abtsberg, Bruderberg and Herrenberg.
The Maximin Grünhaus Estate located in the Ruwer Valley is famous for its high class wines. Beside Riesling (90%) the Estate cultivates also Pinot Blanc (6%) and Pinot Noir (4%). All vineyards of the Estate are hold by monopole and belong to the family Von Schubert who runs the Estate in the 5th and 6th Generation. The 34 hectares of vineyard are separated into three main parts. ABTSBERG, HERRENBERG and BRUDERBERG which differ mainly by their soiltype and steepness. All three of them are classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGE which means Grand Cru vineyard.
