This exceptional Shiraz illustrates why the Shaw + Smith wines are multi-award winners. A medium-bodied red, it demonstrates the beauty in balance over power. Fresh red berries including raspberry and blueberry are flavoured with notes of clove and black pepper. The palate is long and layered with elegantly fine grained tannins.
Vinification Hand picked and fermented as a combination of whole berries and whole bunches in open fermenters, with gentle plunging and minimal working. Vintage Notes 2015 was a remarkable vintage. Above average winter rainfall ensured a good start to the growing season and warm weather in late-December / early-January was moderated by useful rain on the 13th of January. The season concluded with mild, steady conditions and delivered fruit of wonderful quality to the winery. Cellaring Potential Has the concentration and structure to develop fine tertiary characters in bottle over the next 15 years.

97 Points - James Halliday
From central and southern (the latter warmer) parts of the Adelaide Hills, hand-picked, part destemmed, part whole bunch, open-fermented with gentle plunging. The colour is bright, the bouquet full of red fruits, darker fruit notes and delicious pepper and spice nuances. These characters flow through to the medium-bodied palate of Shaw + Smith's most consistently outstanding wine, the '15 vintage making it seem so easy.
95 Points - Huon Hooke
The best shiraz yet under this label: deliciously intense with blood-plum, raspberry, black-cherry aromas with pepper and spice nuances. Marvellous richness and a soft-textured palate that is fruit-driven, with barely perceptible oak.
