A lifted nose of dark berry fruits and just a subtle hint of French oak. Black cherry and darker fruit flavours combined with fresh acidity and soft tannins make this wine a wonderful example of the modern, balanced style of Hunter Valley Shiraz.
All fruit was hand picked and de-stemmed but not crushed, then fermented in the traditional open vats. Cap management consisted of hand plunging, pump overs and rack/returns three times daily. After fermentation the wine spent fifteen months in newer French oak casks (2,700L).

Blackberry and boysenberry, a little spicy and toasty oak, quite a bit of pepper and a hint of grassiness. It’s has grip and grain on a medium-bodied frame, with a good dose of spice, a pleasant crunchy astringency, classic Hunter earthiness, and a pleasantly bitter, almost Italianate finish. More charm to come with a few more years in bottle, I suspect.
