"The Fiano Queen delivers once again. A fabulous wine to get you dancing. Pretty scents of limes, sea spray and tonic. A lemon sherbet tang pulsates through with a minerally undertow. The fruit feels cool and brings a sense of calm. Sit back and relax exhaling with that "ah" factor. An attractive creamy textural presence unfurls with a raw nut highlight. A nip of cut green herb swoops late before a super fine spice drapes itself over the finish. I just want more. Go here, please do. Drink to three years." 94 Points, QWineReviews.

Fiano is relatively new variety to Australia, and originates from the Campania region of Italy. Fiano is super heat and drought tolerant, being able to maintain acidity in the grapes even in our hot South Australian summers. This minimal intervention Fiano is made with indigenous yeast, has no added acid and 2020 sees the first inclusion of a tiny portion fermented in old french oak.

PALATE The lime continues onto the palate, cashew nut texture, creamy brie notes, zesty acid, and a round weighty mid-palate. The palate ength is driven by a chalky tannin, which crisps up the finish. The year that continued... Our favourite place to eat pizza (unless we happen to be in Napoli) is just around the corner from us on Chalkhill RoadPizzateca. We are pretty much serial pests there, and we have been honoured to have our Fiano on their wine list for many moons. We laughed and laughed when, placing an order for more wine, they called Brioni ‘Brian’. It also happens to be our nickname for Brioni when she is driving a tractor or doing anything that is traditionally the arena of the boys on our farm. If you haven’t been to Pizzateca, make sure you book in when you are next in McLaren Vale.
